Friday Five: Books I’ve recently checked out from the library.
I recently had an epiphany while I was looking to see what video games our library had. (Did you know libraries carry video games?!): I can also look through the catalogs for myself to check out art books.
Yeah, I know.
It shouldn’t have been an epiphany.
And it wasn’t, really. Because I know the library has them. I just forgot that I, too, could place requests for the books that are of interest to me.
And this month, the things that are speaking to me? Folk art. Embroidery. Felt appliqué. And holy smokes did the library delivery with some amazing and inspiring books.
Here are 5 of my favorites that I requested and have been slowly working my way through for the month of January:
Artful Botanical Embroidery by Alice Makabe (Bookshop.org | Amazon)
Folk Art Motifs of Pennsylvania by Frances Lichten (AbeBooks | Amazon)
Creative Folk Art and Beyond (Bookshop.org | Amazon)
Creepy Embroidery by Carrie Violet (Bookshop.org | Amazon)
Seasonal Flower Embroidery by Kazuko Aoki (Bookshop.org | Amazon)
Bonus: Did you know you could also subscribe to magazines in the Libby app?! My two favorites right now are Love Embroidery and frankie Magazine.
What about you? What books have been inspiring you lately? Any I should add to my reading list?
X+O,
Emily
